What’s Brewing at San Diego Breweries in the New Year

There’s no denying that San Diego is the Craft Beer Capital of America. With more than 200 tasting rooms and breweries already open, and plenty more scheduled to open soon, it’s easy to see that we are serious about our brews. Join us as we reminisce on 2022’s newest breweries and tasting rooms, breweries to come, and beer-focused events and celebrate some favorite San Diego breweries!

With so many tasting rooms and breweries already in San Diego and more opening all the time, we thought we’d share some newly opened and opening-soon spots! Not only that, but we’ve highlighted some events and neighborhoods to keep an eye on. 

San Diego Brew Festival — Jan. 7th (2.0 miles away): After a brief hiatus, the San Diego Brew Festival is finally back! Get ready for 70 breweries, 200 beers, 10 of the city’s best food trucks, cover bands, and tons of lawn games.

Societe Brewing (4.3 miles): Their recently opened Old Town taproom brings freshly brewed beers to locals and visitors alike. Enjoy the vintage decor and comfortable patio while sipping on an IPA or blonde ale.

North Park Beer Company (5.4 miles away): The hotly anticipated tasting room is set to open mid-December and will feature not only their award-winning brews, but an art deco aesthetic and in-house food.

East Village Brewing Company (6.4 miles away): This independent brewery uses wholesome ingredients and is committed to community and sustainability. With a variety of IPAs and porters, you’re sure to find something you love! Plus, they’re across the street from Petco Park, so they’re a great place for “tailgating” at Padres games.

El Cid Brewing Company (9.4 miles): Opened earlier this year in North Park, this veteran-owned brewery (named in honor of a famous goat who served as a naval mascot) is a can’t-miss spot. The wide variety of beer they serve make it a perfect place for all types of beer lovers.

Chula Vista Neighborhood (14.0 miles away): Chula Vista is home to an up-and-coming beer scene focused on community. Enjoy multiple breweries including Thr3e Punk Ales, Chula Vista Brewery, and Groundswell Brewing Company, plus beer-focused restaurants, and festivals.

CoLab Public House (41.1 miles away): With multiple breweries, a 4,500-square-foot tasting room, and an 800-square-foot patio, this unique space is a fantastic day trip, and an ideal spot to enjoy some brews, burgers, and fun. Sip beer from Laguna Beer Company, Breakwater Brewing Co., and Barrel and Stave Pour House. There truly is something for everyone at CoLab Public House.

Eppig Brewing Waterfront Biergarten (0.6 mile away): Located just a stone’s throw from Humphreys Half Moon Inn, this waterfront biergarten focuses on delicious ales and lagers. Nothing is better than enjoying a brew with a view!

Modern Times Beer (3.4 miles away): Experimental beer lovers and coffee connoisseurs alike will love this entirely employee-owned brewery and coffee roastery boasting quirky sours, tropical IPAs, a variety of coffee-infused stouts and porters, and — of course — fresh-roasted coffee. You’re sure to find your next favorite at this eclectic spot.

Coronado Brewing Company Tasting Room (5.0 miles away): The coastal vibes and friendly atmosphere make this brewery a San Diego staple. The beers are inspired by beaches from around the world and do not disappoint. Enjoy staple beers like the Orange Ave. Wit, or try something seasonal like the Early Bird-French Toast Milk Stout.

Belching Beaver Brewery (8.7 miles away): With innovative flavors and an inviting atmosphere, it’s hard to have anything but a great time at Belching Beaver Brewery. Sip sours, seltzers, IPAs, and imperial stouts — this great brewery has something for everyone.

Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens (34.9 miles away): Often considered one of California’s best breweries, Stone Brewing offers bold brews sought after all over the globe. The full-service restaurant is committed to using locally grown ingredients. Order some flights and delicious food and enjoy the stunning outdoor garden area! The Liberty Station Stone Brewing is also worth a visit and is just 2.4 miles from the hotel.
