Celebrate the Return of Humphreys Concerts by the Bay
If you’re anything like the team at Humphreys, live music is one of the biggest things you missed during the last 18 months of the whole world being on hold. That’s why we’re so overjoyed to announce the triumphant return of the Humphreys Concerts by the Bay series! Humphreys has long been one of San Diego’s most venerated entertainment venues, so we’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing back these treasured events.
Read on to check out some of the highlights of the upcoming events schedule.
Dave Koz & Friends — Friday, September 3
Legendary jazz saxophonist and multi-Grammy-nominated Dave Koz brings an all-star ensemble to the Humphreys stage for this rousing rave. This special “Summer Horns” show puts a serious focus on the sax, as Koz will be inviting fellow brass masters Kirk Whalum, Mindi Abair, Vincent Ingala, and Kenny Lattimore to share the stage. Expect a rousing evening of sultry lead lines and smoky melodies.
Rufus Wainwright & Aimee Mann — Friday, September 10
Celebrated Americana troubadour Rufus Wainwright is bringing his “Unfollow the Rules” tour to San Diego, and he’s got illustrious Grammy-winning songbird Aimee Mann along for the ride. The pair of them represents a powerful coming-together of two of the most vital and electric songwriters working today. You won’t want to miss seeing them share the stage.
Lost 80’s Live — Saturday, September 11
Time to dig out your neon and skinny ties, kids: The Lost 80’s Live Tour is coming to take over San Diego. An absolute radio station’s worth of hitmakers will be taking the stage and rocking its collective socks off, including The Romantics, Missing Persons, Animotion, Burning Sensations, Musical Youth, Naked Eyes, Tommy Tutone, Stacey Q, Josie Cotton, Boys Don’t Cry, Dramarama, Trans X, and The Flirts. So brace yourself for maximum rock n’ roll!
Judy Collins — Friday, September 17
Ethereal and fiercely talented Grammy-winner Judy Collins will be gracing our stage this fall, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Judy’s career has spanned a wide variety of genres over her staggering and prolific 60 years as a singer, songwriter, and performer. She brings her undeniable presence to Humphreys on the heels of having recently had her latest album “Winter Stories” reach the number-one spot on Billboard’s bluegrass chart.
The word “legendary” gets tossed around a lot when speaking of musical performers, but it rarely applies as readily as it does to this magical matchup. This show features not one, but two absolutely unmissable acts from the heyday of Motown: The Temptations and the Four Tops. The Temps are marking 60 years in show business in 2021, and their longtime friendly rivals the Four Tops are here to help them celebrate. Your ticket buys you a seat, but we’re guessing you’ll be on your feet for most of this soulful soirée.
Nine albums, two Grammy nominations, films, TV series, and that pristine pompadour. Chris Isaak’s soulful croon has earned him legions of fans, from the heartbreaking ballad “Wicked Game” to the sexy strut of “Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing” all the way up to his latest hit, “King Without a Castle.” Tickets for this special evening with this electrically essential and genre-defying artist are going fast, so be sure to snag yours below.
No matter what sort of tunes you like to listen to, one thing’s for sure: Humphrey’s has a show for you. Plus, in addition to musical performances, the Humphreys stage also hosts some of the funniest comedians on the road today, such as Chelsea Handler, Dimitri Martin, and Brian Regan.
