Fall is Fine for Wine in San Diego

Not only is fall the perfect time to visit San Diego, but it’s also known as “harvest season” meaning it’s the ideal time for wine enthusiasts to come enjoy our city. With tasting rooms, urban wineries, and plenty of vino-focused festivals taking place this season, you won’t want to miss out. We’ve rounded up our favorite spots to grab a glass of San Diego wine, and the events we’re most looking forward to. All you have to do is show up!

Nothing pairs with wine quite like live music! Blended Festival offers a diverse lineup, culinary stations, wine, and craft cocktails. The 100-foot wine tent features local, national, and international wines to purchase, while the culinary village boasts chef demonstrations, food trucks and more. Dance along to live performances from Ice Cube, Galantis, James Kennedy, and more! The festival takes place October 8–9, all just minutes from our hotel.

Featuring rare, sometimes obscure, and under-appreciated wines is Gianni Buonomo Vintners. San Diego’s first “beach winery” is the perfect place for adventurous wine lovers wanting to try something new. Sip exotic varietals while enjoying ocean views.

Enjoy one of the country’s most talked-about weeks in food — the San Diego Bay Wine and Food Festival! Sip wine from hundreds of domestic and international wineries while taking in the views of sailboats and sandy beaches along the bay. Nationally acclaimed chefs, wine, craft beer  and spirits, and dozens of events help make the festival what it is. The festival takes place November 9–13. You won’t want to miss it, trust us!

For a true taste of Napa Valley, head to LJ Crafted Wines’ tasting room. Sip small batch wines directly from the barrel. The 10th annual Taste of Coronado features food, drinks, and socialization all while supporting local businesses. Enjoy bites and sips from the neighborhood’s most beloved and prominent bars and restaurants such as Wine A Bit, Little Frenchie, and others during this fun event! The Taste of Coronado takes place on October 12th, 2022 from 5–9pm. 

 

La Jolla Art & Wine Festival (13 miles away)

With prestigious art, international and regional wines, and craft beer and spirits, you’re sure to have a grand time at the 14th Annual La Jolla Art & Wine Festival! Peruse art from over 160 artists before heading to the iconic wine and beer garden where you’ll find more than 35 international wineries, craft breweries, and distilleries. Be sure to enjoy the silent auction, gourmet food, live music and children’s toys from Geppetto’s. Visitors will also have an opportunity to look into and pet adoption at the event! The festival is October 8–9.
