We sat down with the hardworking members from various departments at Humphreys Half Moon Inn to get to know each of them a little better. Our front desk, engineering, and food and beverage teams shared interesting facts about themselves along with their favorite things about working at Humphreys.
Front Desk
Nancy Bernal (Guest Service Agent)
- Number of years employed with company: one year and two months.
- Fun fact: I’m a fur mom to a crazy husky!
- Favorite thing about working at Humphreys: I enjoy making guests’ stays memorable.
Andres Cortez (Guest Service Agent)
- Number of years employed with company: two years
- Fun fact: I have a four-foot snake named Fiona.
- Favorite thing about working at Humphreys: My favorite thing about working at Humphreys is being able to attend to guests’ needs and making our hotel the most welcoming place for them — their home away from home.
David Gutierrez (Guest Service Agent)
- Number of years employed with company: two years.
- Fun fact: I read and collect comic books, especially Spider-Man, my favorite comic book superhero. I have about four to five thousand comic books in total.
- Favorite thing about working at Humphreys: My favorite thing about working at the front desk for Humphreys is spending time with my coworkers and our guests. It’s always a pleasure checking guests in, especially when they’re here to see big stars perform at our hotel, like the Gipsy Kings, Toto, or Willie Nelson.
James Christiansen (Assistant Guest Services Manager)

- Fun Fact: I do good impressions of Mickey Mouse and Stitch from “Lilo and Stitch,” and I grew up doing musical theater all over San Diego County.
- Your favorite thing about working at Humphreys: My favorite thing about working the front desk of Humphreys is spending time with the employees and all the new guests we get to meet at check-in.
Engineering Department
Saair Solorzano
- Number of years employed with the company: almost one year.
- Fun fact: I’m very creative and enjoy spending my time building models and customs. I’ve even created some Star Wars-inspired clothing.
- Favorite thing about working at Humphreys: I love enjoying the concerts and productions that take place at the property.
Food & Beverage
Charles Rick (Bartender at Humphreys SoCAL Dining & Music)

- Fun fact: I’m a retired competitive surfer and currently teach surfing clinics for young kids!
- Favorite thing about working at Humphreys: I love the fun, casual, and relaxed atmosphere mixed with the live music. It reminds me of being in Hawaii.
Alfredo Gonzales (Lead Cook at Humphreys SoCAL Dining & Music)

- Fun fact: I stay in shape by playing with my nine grandchildren.
