We're local and we stayed at Half Moon!

My wife and I have called San Diego home for many years and actually have retired aboard one of the small ships that help make the marina views at Half Moon Inn so darned lovely.
When our ship needed to be hauled out for maintenance at one of the boatyards that dot Shelter Island Drive, we didn't hesitate in choosing Half Moon as our temporary shore quarters.
After all we had our very first date at the property's 'Humphrey's Restaurant' twenty five years earlier; and have since enjoyed many years of wonderful meals, Sunday brunches, and great musical performances at Humphrey's 'intimate' concert venue. So, we splurged for a junior suite with a marina view for the nine days our home would be out of the water - and we wern't disappointed.
The suites' tasteful, island-style, hominess provided a very comfortable and well-equipped base for us as well as a super place to entertain business contacts and personal friends that week. Also, with the boatyard, and everything else we might want or need all within walking distance, we really felt quite at home.
That was only reinforced by the daily attentions of the staff. "Oly", our housekeeper for the week, was a real pro and extremely pleasant as she saw to the thorough cleanliness and comfort of the suite and made sure we wanted for nothing that the hotel offered its guests.
The well-equipped kitchen, with full-size appliances would have easily been up to any meal preparations we wished to make. But, with long, busy days at the 'yard', we happily relied on room service from what was already one of our favorite local restaurants! Eric was our server most all of the week and, like Oly, his attention to detail and sincere concern for our satisfaction really gave our "work week" a vacation feel. Add in the uncrowded pool and spa facilities and one begins to feel somewhat pampered.
So, as locals who had the choice of many nearby options for the weeks lodging, we wish to pass on a very big Mahalo to Oly, Eric, and all of the folks that make the property so special. And, to any potential visitors to San Diego considering a stay, we want you to know where these locals put up friends, family, and ourselves when need be.
Again, mahalo and big aloha,
