Jazz up your Thanksgiving holiday by attending the San Diego Jazz Fest November 23-27. The event features all styles of jazz, including classic, ragtime, and swing. There'll be rooms designed for an intimate listening experience and rooms where you can kick up your heels and dance. There'll be more than 30 performances throughout the week. However you experience the Jazz Fest, it's a great addition to your Thanksgiving in San Diego.
Lineup of Jazz Bands
The event's great lineup of jazz bands pulls in performers from around the country. They each bring their local styles, with the Harlem Slide, Dixieland, Boogie Woogie, and Cajun just a few of the jazz flavors on the playlist.
Special Swing Dance Extravaganza
Swing fans get a special treat at the Swing Dance Extravaganza on Saturday night. Sneak in early afternoon for warmup sets and hang around for the nighttime shows. There'll be a "battle of the bands" and competition for the dancers, as well.
Jazz Jams and Dance Classes
Do more than just listen to great performers; boost your own skills at the San Diego Jazz Festival's jazz jams and dance classes. Find room in your suitcase for your instrument so you can join in the Dick Williams Jazzsea Jams. Novice dancers can bring their two left feet to classes in the Lindy Hop, East Coast Swing, or West Coast Swing. More advanced dancers will be able to further polish their skills.
