Spring flowers are lovely; when floral designs are inspired by art, the flowers are transformed into art themselves. See just how beautiful flowers can be in the Art Alive exhibit at the San Diego Museum of Art April 27 - April 30, 2017.
There will be more than 100 flower-based artistic interpretations displayed throughout the museum, including a spectacular design that will transform the rotunda into "A Sky of Colors." The work will use the flowers' colors and fragrance, plus special audio, to create an all-encompassing, immersive experience of a surreal take on natural beauty.
Other events at the museum carry on the seasonal theme. The Bloom Bash on opening night features floral-infused cocktails. The museum store will feature spring-themed jewelry by local jewelry designers. A terrarium-building workshop helps visitors create their own floral masterpieces. And the Garden of Activities offers family-friendly floral activities.
You can continue enjoying San Diego's spring flowers when you step outside of the museum. The San Diego Museum is just one of more than a dozen museums in beautiful Balboa Park. The park is also home to several gardens, including a Native Plant Garden, Rose Garden, and Japanese Friendship Garden.
There are also flowers to enjoy on the spacious grounds of Humphreys Half Moon Inn, just 5 miles from Balboa Park. Stroll our grounds and peaceful Shelter Island, with waterfront paths that let you enjoy the view. It's a comfortable, convenient base for exploring San Diego during springtime and any season.
